4-2010 Press Release Alpine Sun

ALPINE SUN: April 2010

Attention Alpine and East County residents! Have you wondered how the rapidly deteriorating budget of the Alpine Union School District will be supplemented? We are no longer talking about the far off future, the time is here! Our schools have been hit hard and are NOW faced with inadequate funding due to the severe state wide budget cuts in Education. These budget cuts will not only affect the district’s ability to maintain a reasonable student to teacher ratio, it also means programs we wish to see our children involved in will be slashed; many of which are considered essential to provide a well rounded education. As a long time community member of Alpine, I know our community would like every opportunity to ensure that the quality of education in our Alpine schools is not diminished and here is our opportunity; announcing the formation of the Alpine Education Foundation. The Alpine Education Foundation endeavors to build partnerships in education with businesses and citizens alike to help raise funds to not only prevent further program cuts, reinstate those programs which have already been cut, but to also build new programs and support our students in becoming productive members of society by ensuring they have the educational support necessary to make that journey. Additional information concerning our newly formed foundation will be available soon; so, be on the look out for how you too can become a “Partner in Education.”
