ReadyBreak camps are opening registration February 28, 2019. ReadyBreak camps are great opportunities to make extra money over the summer and teach something that you enjoy. To sign up to teach a camp, complete and submit the form at https://aef4kids.org/aef-ready-break-teacher-sign-up-form/
Are you considering teaching a camp, but unsure? Reach out to Ashlee Rodgers at ReadyBreak@AEF4Kids.net or 619-733-2914 to discuss or to set up a meeting.
When can I teach a camp?
Choose any week (Mon-Fri) that works for you during summer.
What time of day should my camp be?
Start and end times can vary, but most morning camps begin between 8-9am and afternoon camps begin between 12-1pm.
How long should my camp day be?
Camps should be 3-4 hours, depending on your subject and curriculum. Registration and camp interest can be increased by partnering with other instructors to combine camps to cover a full work day by providing a morning camp, supervised lunch, and an afternoon camp. This allows your camp to substitute for a working family’s daycare needs.
How much money can I make?
Camps will be offered for $75 per week. AEF will pay instructors $52.50 for each registration. Your compensation will depend on how many students register. If 10 students register, you can make $525. If 20 students register, you can make $1,050.
Why does AEF keep $22.50 of each registration?
AEF uses these funds to reimburse instructors for supplies (see next FAQ), pay for insurance, pay for advertising materials, and pay Active the registration fee and credit card processing fees. AEF does not intend to make a profit from ReadyBreak camps.
Do I need to purchase my camp supplies?
You will need to shop for the supplies your camp needs. You can submit your receipts to ReadyBreak@AEF4Kids.net and AEF will reimburse you up to 10% of your gross camp registration fees. This means that if 10 kids register, AEF will reimburse up to $75 in supplies (10 kids X $75 X 10%). Some camps require more supplies than others (ie-art). Special requests can be made via e-mail if it is estimated that the supplies will cost more. AEF can use other camps’ unused supply allowances to reimburse additional costs.
Why does AEF facilitate ReadyBreak camps?
AEF’s mission is to support education opportunities for students. This mission is not exclusive to the regular school year. ReadyBreak camps are a great way to keep kids learning during the summer, and to offer support to teachers year round.
Can I send a request to students to bring supplies, wear certain attire, or bring a snack/water?
Yes, when you submit your camp information sheet, include these instructions in the “comments” section. When a student registers, they will receive an e-mail containing this information. In addition, they will be reminded of this info via e-mail one week before camp begins. If you do not know yet, or want to edit/change/add to the info on your form, you can e-mail us at ReadyBreak@AEF4Kids.net. You will also have the ability to contact your students directly through Active (our online registration platform) or from your registration contact information list.
How do I sign up to teach a camp?
Complete the camp information form at https://aef4kids.org/aef-ready-break-teacher-sign-up-form/ . Or e-mail ReadyBreak@AEF4Kids.net to receive a pdf of the form. You can complete and e-mail it back, or call Ashlee at 619-733-2914 to arrange for it to be picked up.
How can I tell how many kids are registered for my camp?
You will be provided with a log in to Active (our online registration platform) that will allow you to access the information for all students/families registered for your camp. When you log in, you can immediately see how many students are registered from each grade level, and click though to obtain name and family contact information for each student.
What if I have a question that isn’t answered here?
You can e-mail your question to ReadyBreak@AEF4Kids.net or call Ashlee at 619-733-2914. We are happy to answer your questions, or to set up a meeting to discuss them.
